One of the most valuable resources available is the Carpet and Rug Institute (carpet-rug.org). They have instituted a Green Label certification for all carpets, and standards that all carpet manufacturers adhere to. Their website has a terrific amount of information including a listing of the best vacuum cleaners (after a five year testing process).
